On March 17, 1910 at the Jeffries Arena in Vernon, California heavyweights Sam Langford and "Fireman" Jim Flynn battled in an important divisional matchup. The "Boston Tar Baby" prevailed knocking Flynn out in the 8th round. After the KO, Flynn was placed slumped and dazed on a stool in his corner, while his seconds spent some time attempting to revive him. He eventually got to his feet.
